Embracing Your Creative Journey: How I Overcame Challenges to Pursue Songwriting

Introduction

When I was younger, I never dreamed of being a singer. Although I had fell in love with music since a young age and was a DJ at weddings and birthday parties after finishing school. But 20 years later I realized that dreams shouldn't be placed on the back burner, something clicked inside me: I knew it was time to finally take action! Still working full time to support my family, I decided to pursue songwriting at night instead.

It wasn't easy at first,in fact, it took me about two years before anyone noticed my songs or videos on social media, but now that things are starting to happen for me as an artist, what's most important is keeping myself grounded so nothing changes who I am underneath all this newfound attention...and having fun along the way!

Never delay a dream

You know how you always say, "I'll do it when I'm ready?" Well, I finally decided that the time was right. So I decided to enter a local songwriting competition in 2019 and it was a great experience although I never made the top 10, I really felt inspired and the possiblity of doing what I enjoy could be pursued.

But even though things were going great for me musically, there were times when doubt would creep into my mind: Wasn't this supposed to happen more quickly? Shouldn't it be easier than this? Am I doing something wrong? The truth is that everyone faces challenges on their creative journey. It's just part of being human!

But I also learned that there are ways to get through these times. Here are three of my favorite tips for dealing with creative challenges:

I finally decided to pursue my dream, but I ran into challenges right away.

I finally decided to pursue my dream, but I ran into challenges right away. The first problem was that I didn't know how to write songs as I had no experience.

The second problem was that when I tried to play guitar, it was like every other person who picks up a guitar for the first time: I sounded terrible! And then there were all these other people who were really good at playing music and writing songs; they were so much better than me at everything! These challenges made me feel discouraged and insecure about myself as an artist and human being. But instead of giving up on my creative dreams altogether (or even worse... quitting altogether), I focused on what mattered most: creating music based on what truly inspired me rather than chasing after external validation or approval from others

Instead of giving up, I learned to embrace these challenges by focusing on my passions instead of what others thought of me or my music.

Instead of giving up, I learned to embrace these challenges by focusing on my passions instead of what others thought of me or my music. I stayed grounded in who I am and where I came from, but was open to new experiences that would help me grow as a person and artist.

I encourage you to do the same! If there is something holding back your creative journey, then let go of it so that you can move forward with confidence.

Then I started making music videos and posting about my songs.

How to make a music video:

  • Shoot it on your smartphone or DSLR camera.
  • Edit it with your computer or iPad app.
  • Upload it to YouTube and share on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and Instagram.

The importance of posting content and social media: Content is one of the best ways to build an audience for your music. It can also help you connect with other artists in your genre who may want to collaborate with you on future projects! Social media sites like Facebook, Instagram and TikTok allow people from all over the world access into your life and they love seeing what's happening in yours as much as they do their own friends' lives (if not more). So get out there and be authentic; let people see who YOU really are!

Now that I'm starting to get a little recognition, it's important to keep myself grounded and remember where I came from.

Now that I'm starting to get some recognition, it's important to keep myself grounded and remember where I came from. It's easy for people who have achieved success to lose touch with their roots and forget about the struggles they had when they were younger. They may think that everything has come easily for them, but in reality the road to success is often long and winding.

I've seen many artists become bitter because they feel like their hard work isn't being rewarded enough; this can lead them down a dark path where they start resenting their fans or peers who are doing better than them in terms of sales or popularity (or both). This leads nowhere good, you should always be grateful for what you have because there are millions of talented musicians out there trying desperately just like you were once upon a time!

Don't let yourself get caught up in all these negative thoughts; instead focus on keeping your mind clear so that when inspiration strikes again next time around then nothing will stop those creative juices flowing!

Don't give up on your creative journey, open yourself up to new experiences and challenges can help you grow as an artist.

One of the most important things to remember is that it's not all about you. You are not alone in this journey, and you have to keep yourself grounded by remembering where you came from.

I think it's important that creative people know they can overcome challenges by focusing on their passions instead of what others think of them or their music. For example, I've been an aspiring songwriter for over 4 years now and while I'm proud of my accomplishments, there were many times when I felt like giving up because someone was criticizing me or my songs in some way (or even just because I didn't see any success at first). But if we're going to make art for ourselves rather than for other people (and trust me: doing so will allow us greater freedom), then we need confidence in our own abilities, even when those around us seem unconvinced!

Conclusion
